I love motorcycles and the people that make up the motorcycle culture. I was fortunate enough to attend the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in … to put it mildly, that was party. The people watching opportunities alone make the five to seven days at the rally worthwhile.
Go every year!! Love it and can't wait for this year. Fabulous time had by all.
Updated: November 8, pm. A dirt road through the campground is lined with bikers clutching beer cans and video cameras. They whistle and holler at passing motorcycles - in appreciation of the women riders who are topless and in encouragement of those who aren't.
Reuters - Outside the Knuckle Saloon, co-owner Ken McNenny lights a cigarette, leans on a bar and nods to a steady stream of motorcycles humming up and down the street days before the official start of the annual rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. McNenny has little time for sleep or riding while preparing the popular hangout for the 75th anniversary Sturgis motorcycle rally that organizers believe may draw a million people to western South Dakota from Monday to Aug. It was not held a couple years during World War Two.
Yes it is. All of it! What are the dates for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for ?
The 75th year of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The Granddaddy of the Granddaddy of them all. Come the first week of August, this small South Dakota town of 6, was to be overrun by a horde a million strong, the metal apocalypse descending from the Black Hills, bearded brutes mounted on gleaming, death-roaring Harley-Davidsons as their sex-crazed female passengers, with their breasts painted the colors of the American flag, screamed at the moon.
Jackson County this time of the year brings to mind, the outdoors and for some, camping but one campground is getting noticed for its loud concerts and its new adult themed atmosphere. Marvin Thomann is the owner of Camp N. N but it's not your ordinary campground. Community members have called in a number of complaints about the noise but Thomann says he's become a target.
Despite all the concerts, famous performers, bike shows and scenic rides, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is also well-known for its surrounding culture. Besides the bikes, the rally's party atmosphere is a huge part of the yearly gathering. The rally has its fair share of contests and pageants for womenwhich are not to be confused with the pageants most people might think of.
My first clue something might make this place a little, uh, unique was the gigantic white fence surrounding the property. For some reason, they absolutely did not want anyone sneaking a peek of the park from the road… I pulled up to the main entrance and found out why they have such a large fence:. Ok, now I have to investigate more… I pulled through the park in search of some sort of campground worker, but instead saw a large outdoor stage, several pole barns, and a group of middle schoolers sliding down a waterside into a pond. Thankfully, they were wearing swimsuits.
